NEW JERSEY STATE FLAG

New Jersey, one of the original 13 colonies, was a major battleground during the American Revolution. Located in the heart of the bustling Atlantic Corridor and nestled between New York and Pennsylvania, New Jersey has the highest population density of any US state.

New Jersey is named after the island of Jersey in the English Channel. The long and beautiful coastline has long made New Jersey a popular vacation destination, with more than 50 beach towns, including Asbury Park, Atlantic City, and Cape May.

The state also has an impressive musical heritage: Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and Frank Sinatra are all from New Jersey. Known as an industrial center, it earns the nickname “Garden State”: New Jersey is a leading producer of cranberries, blueberries and tomatoes.

Geography

New Jersey is a small but diverse state located in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. It is bordered by Pennsylvania to the west and New York to the north and east, and by the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The state has an area of 8,722 square miles (22,608 km2), making it the 47th largest state in the country.

The geography of New Jersey is mostly flat with rolling hills and low mountains. The highest elevation point in New Jersey is High Point at 1,803 feet (549 m). There are several rivers that traverse through the state including the Delaware River, which forms much of its western border with Pennsylvania; Raritan River; Passaic River; Hackensack River; Musconetcong River; and others.

The northwestern corner of New Jersey is part of a region known as The Skylands. This area features heavily forested areas, rolling hills and valleys, as well as numerous lakes, rivers and streams. It also includes several mountain ranges such as Kittatinny Mountains, Highlands Mountains, Ramapo Mountains and Watchung Mountains.

The central part of New Jersey is known as The Piedmont Plateau and consists mostly of gently rolling hills covered with deciduous forests. This region also contains numerous lakes such as Lake Hopatcong in Sussex County which is one of the largest man-made lakes in New Jersey.

The southern portion of New Jersey is known as The Shore Region due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. This area features coastal plains that gradually slope down towards sandy beaches along its shoreline that are popular vacation destinations for many people living within or near states along this stretch of coast such as Pennsylvania, Delaware or Maryland. Other features include barrier islands such as Long Beach Island off Atlantic City and Cape May at its southern tip which are popular tourist spots for beachgoers during summer months.

New Jersey’s climate can be classified into two main types: humid continental climate in most parts of northern half while humid subtropical climate dominates southern half due to its closeness to water bodies like ocean or rivers nearby which helps moderate temperatures during winter season compared with northern parts where temperatures can drop significantly below freezing point on certain days during winter months from December through February each year.
